Notable-Looking Mons (Part 2):
Wishiwashi (School): If it doesn't get to start out in this form, it's garbage. If it does get to start out in this form, on the other hand, it looks capable of running a very decent assault vest set with scald/ice beam/earthquake/uturn. This set, with max hp/max special attack and a quiet nature, lets it simultaneously hit quite hard and switch in well to special attackers (ex: LO Gengar's shadow ball only does 34-40). Additionally, water/ice/ground coverage is very decent in both OU and UU, and the fact that it's a mixed attacker isn't so crippling since it can afford to run a minus speed nature. Predicted Tier: UU.
Toxapex: Fantastic tank. Its special bulk is practically identical to Tentacruel's and its physical bulk is significantly better, PLUS it gets Regenerator & Recover. Unfortunately it's quite passive with garbage offenses, and it has a bit of 4moveslot-syndrome (recover/tspikes/baneful bunker/toxic to not be setup fodder/scald to not be setup fodder/light screen). Predicted Tier: OU.
Mudsdale: Decent tankiness and hits reasonably hard. Unfortunately it offers nothing over hippowdon, which gets rocks and slack off, or even to an extent donphan who gets rapid spin. Predicted Tier: RU.
Araquanid: Don't let the SpDef fool you. This mon doesn't have the stats to be offensive, doesn't have the movepool to be support, and doesn't have an ability that rectifies any of its problems. Predicted Tier: PU.
Lurantis: Sigh. Horrible at spamming contrary leafstorm because of its poor speed and bad defensive typing. Signature move useless outside of sun. Defog is nice, I guess, but it's very mediocre overall. Predicted Tier: PU.
Shiinotic: Very gimmicky. Strength Sap is weird but good. It's worth noting though that your bulk is mediocre and you have to actually survive a hit in order to accomplish anything with strength sap, which may not be very easy. Even against special attackers, though, it restores a decent amount (ex: 46% against Keldeo). Resistances are nice. Spore is very nice. Abilities fairly useless. Not going to try and dissect spotlight since I have no clue how that would work in doubles. Predicted Tier (Singles): RU.
Salazzle: It has the tools to be decent. Fantastic speed and usable SpAtt, would-be checks like tentacruel need to watch out for toxic, solid specially offensive movepool includes fire/poison/dragon to hit pretty much everything neutrally or better. Nasty plot sounds cool but gimmicky. Unfortunately it doesn't really have a way to punish rocks/grounds aside from toxic. Predicted Tier: UU.
Bewear: I despise this mon's design. Extremely bulky with Fluffy+Assault Vest and quite hard-hitting with a solid movepool. Shame that its only recovery is rest. Fluffy actually lets it tank a good few super-effective physical moves it wouldn't be able to otherwise, like azu's play rough or terrak's close combat. Still, it's offense isn't outstanding or anything, and its still very slow. Predicted Tier: UU.
Tsareena: Quite solid. Rapid Spin is a huge boon, it's surprisingly bulky, its speed is just high enough to outspeed slower tanks. U-turn and HJK are nice for momentum and luring respectively, while synthesis/dual screens/trop kick make it a solid defensive pivot. The typing is a little unfortunate but it's definitely workable. Predicted Tier: UU.
Oranguru: Instruct is amazing in doubles. In singles, though, this is very very poor. Predicted Tier: PU.
Passimian: The movepool leaves it little to work with (no shadow claw, no stone edge). Defiant is nice and handy though and the bulk is passable. Receiver would certainly be interesting in doubles. Predicted Tier: NU.
Golisopod: Fantastic physical bulk, reasonable special bulk, good attack, very bad speed. First impression has great synergy with it. Leech life now being 80 base power and still restoring hp actually makes it a very solid secondary bug move, keeping it healthy and doing big damage; liquidation is better than waterfall since you're too slow to flinch things. Emergency Exit is actually not so bad, allowing you to come back in later to fire off another first impression. SR weakness is annoying. Actually, this thing an be really tanky with an assault vest. Aqua jet is nice alternate priority but may not be worth giving up the moveslot. Predicted Tier: UU.
Palossand: Meh. Spdef is too mediocre to be a good wall, and no SR hurts. I don't think it has much potential tbh. Predicted tier: PU.
Pyukumuku: No attacking moves. Bout as passive as wobuffet. Innards out strategy is meh, Unaware makes this thing annoying but it can't do much besides toxic stall. Gah this is worthless. Predicted Tier: PU.
Silvally: A shame it doesn't hit hard. Honestly, it's fairly underwhelming overall, although one saving grace is its spectacular pivoting moves in uturn/parting shot. Twave is still nice despite the nerf. Don't see pursuit being very good since this isn't exactly forcing out any psychic/ghost types. Predicted Tier: RU.
Minior: Shell smash/stone edge/acrobatics/earthquake. The post-shields down speed is amazing, and 100 attack is quite enough to do damagge after a shell smash. Unfortunately, the post-shields down frailty makes you lost to decent priority. Still, a perfectly decent sweeper if somewhat predictable. doesn't even need speed investment. Predicted Tier: UU.
Komala: Nice as a status absorber. Rapid spin is fantastic. U-turn is also very convenient. A shame it's so physically frail, but it can afford to run max hp with helps with that somewhat. Unfortunately reliant on wish for recovery. Predicted Tier: RU.
Turtonator: Solid shell smasher. Shell trap makes for some interesting mind games. Power and movepool are both decent, typing very good. Unfortunately it's still outsped by a lot even at +2 and it's can't afford to run modest. Predicted Tier: BL2.
Mimikyu: Excellent stop to setup sweepers; disguise gives it a free turn to will-o-wisp or thunderwave. Offensive stats aren't terrible; could maybe pull of a sweeping set with a free swords dance from disguise and shadow sneak/play rough. Even with a boost though it doesn't hit that hard. Predicted Tier: RU.
Bruxish: Decent variety, with it being able to pull of both dazzling and strong jaw/psychic fangs sets. PF is good, aqua jet is handy to have alongside it, the attack is surprisingly decent. Strong Jaw also boosts ice fang/crunch. SD or Taunt are both options. Still, quite frail and not too fast. Predicted Tier: RU.
Drampa: Very interesting. The movepool is absolutely incredible, with fire blast/energy ball/hurrican/shadow ball/thunderbolt/ice beam/surf/focus blast/hyper voice/ *takes a breath* / sub/roost/cm/glare. Okay. 135 special attack is very very good, and with bererk it can boost that further relatively easily. I see both an all-out attacking set with berserk very useful, potentially running a choice specs (if the opponent knocks you below 50% you hit them wiith a +2 draco meteor). Additionally, a sub/calm mind/roost option is viable as a late game wincon, setting up on an opponent that can't 2hko it, allowing them to knock it into berserk range and then roosting up. Predicted Tier: UU.
