Alexis
Slowly, the black receded and her eyes opened. Alexis found herself wrapped in a blanket, still in the library. The grandfather clock was visible- it was 9 in the morning. She would have to begin her regular lessons soon. Saber was sitting in a nearby chair, reading La Matière de la France with a solemn look. He sighed and closed the book, then looked at Alexis. "It's good to see you're awake."
She murmured something in acknowledgement and flopped over on her back, staring at the ceiling, waiting for the strength to get up.
Saber spoke again. "I'm glad to see you've made a full recovery."
She sat up, still in her sheet. "How was your fight with the servant?"
"I must admit, this war is going to be a difficult one. He was Berserker, the wielder of the E-Ko-To sword. He could have torn me to pieces."
"It's a good thing he didn't..." She looked over to her servant. "...Well, I can't participate in this war if I have no servant, correct?"
He chuckled. "I suppose so."
"You have to promise me that you will stay alive. If you do something stupid because you think I'm in the slightest bit of danger..."
"If I may, Master." She huffed at this interruption. "...You cannot participate in this war if you yourself are not alive. However, I know that you're a strong and capable young lady. I believe we should look out for each other." Saber smiled innocently.
"...Fine." Alexis stood up and folded the blanket. "If it comes to me having to save your hide, I won't let you down. But since this is the case, you yourself should make sure you don't disappoint me."
"I will do my best, Master." He bowed his head in a fashion not unlike that of a knight in the presence of a king or queen.
She looked away for a second, then back to Saber. "Alexis."
"Hmm?"
"I think you should learn my actual name before you start trusting me. I've neglected to tell you. For that, I'm sorry. My name is Alexis Conzette."
Saber stood up straight and met her in the eye. "I am Roland, leader of the Paladins of Charlemagne. However, for this war I am loyal only to you, Lady Conzette. I promise not to disappoint."
