Cody Lazarus
He was silent for a few seconds.
"Caster, get ready. Madeline, equip the spear. We leave for London now."
Caster shrugged, then stretched his arms. "What's our game plan, chap?"
Cody retrieved his now-repaired pistol and loaded a magazine. "The spade team is secondary.
Nick is the enemy now."
Kirin Oshiro
It's fortunate that we've been sent into familiar territory. The mage's association has had our backs since day one. If all goes well, they'll hand over the catalyst willingly and help us with part two of our plan.
Archer took in a deep breath, walking beside Riza, Kirin and Mrs. Krauss. Good to smell this air again.
Last you were here was in 1800s, when the air was filled with coal.
Problem, Oshiro?
You've... got a strange taste in scents, mister.
Like no other. He cracked a smile.
"So." Krauss said firmly. "This plan is very much like your father."
"Did you know him?"
"Of course, we are both heads of our own families."
Kirin eyed her oddly. She was an eighty-two year old elderly woman who couldn't walk without a cane, and thus their pace was extremely slow. "You haven't passed down your title yet?"
Krauss scowled. "Of course not. I thought you were more proper than that; I'm very disappointed with you, Kirin. No, while you might think me an old hag, I'm still head of the Krauss family. That title will be given up the moment it's torn out of my cold, dead hands. Now stand up straight!" She whacked him with her cane. Riza couldn't help but giggle.
Anne
"Yes." Anne said throwing the notepad into the fireplace and watching the flames blanket it.
Penny, come here now, we're leaving.
WUFF! [But... I'm sleeping!]
Do you want me to leave you behind?
Anne got her answer when she heard clicking as Penny ran down the steps.
"We're going to use the space to our advantage," Anne said to Saber. "If you see Nick, do whatever you want except leave him alone."
"Alright."
"I have all my stuff, you?" Anne asked Cody after grabbing her dagger from where it lay on the table.
Cody Lazarus
He pocketed a small computer chip. "Yeah, I'm all set. Let's move out."
Robin
"Okay, since a lot of you seem to be going to Big Ben, I'm heading to the subway."
Maria
This whole back and forth business is quite tedious if you ask me. Why place these things in this extremely insignificant city in the United States, a ruin in South America, and then have the rest appear in London. This all just seems a bit strange. Whatever, best be heading back to London, might as well go set something up by a leyline or two. I still have a couple more hours worth of footage to examine. It was a good thing that I opted to sleep through the fourth catalyst, it looked like an absolute snoozefest.
And thus, off Maria went on a helicopter once more without any pesky insects bothering her.
Kiera
Kiera walked down the stairs, "What just happened? Don't tell me there are 8 spades now."
Jack Blair
"Who else is going subway?" Jack said, "We're leaving now."
Anne
"Well not really. It seems as though Nick has left us, but he might go join the Spades now that you mention it..."
Cody Lazarus
Using Archer's portal was a simple matter; their real challenge would be reaching the parliament building in time. Luckily, Cody had a plan.
They stood in the open streets, normal civilians walking every which way. It was a crowded, snowy evening, unusual weather for London.
"Do you have a map?" Anne asked him.
"I've got something better." Give me a boost, Caster.
On it. Caster returned some of his mana to him to let him cast a large spell.
Cody crouched low and pressed his hand against the ground, and inhaled deeply. "The city of London, like many other cities, can be seen as one massive machine. It's not made up of circuits and wires, though; it's made of people and places." Maxim-Scan. He cast the spell to plot out a mental map of the city, saving time and energy by filtering out everything except for magical artifacts and mages. He then cross-referenced this information with a pre-downloaded map of London provided by Madeline and determined not only their location, but the quickest path to the Parliament building and the general locations of all mages.
"Three mages are already at Big Ben. Dang. One more's in the area around it. I think that one might be Nick."
Anne
Everything is related to a machine... Wish I understood more about those things.
"So do we head straight to Big Ben and wait for Nick there, or do we want to track him? I think that going to Big Ben will be easier and save time, but then we might have to deal with the other three as well... Since we're gonna run into those other three eventually, though... I think we should go straight to Big Ben. Whaddya say?"
Kirin Oshiro
"O-Oshiro?"
"Yes, is that a problem?" Kirin crossed his arms. He had just entered the front lobby and spoke quietly to the woman in front.
What in the hell are you doing, lad? That's a bystander, she just works here.
On the contrary, Archer. The staff here masquerades as government workers, and that's what they do most of the time, but the administrators and secretaries are all association members. She won't just let in ANY old mage, however, given the high status of this establishment.
Can you put that in a language I understand, Kirin?
Later.
The secretary responded in a whisper. "There's a... word."
"It's Equinox."
"I see." She handed him a small silver key. "Any elevator should work. Best of luck, Spade Faction."
Kirin and Riza waited for a few minutes until they could access an elevator alone, the finally went in. He pressed the key into the emergency lock, normally reserved for firemen in case of emergency. It glowed; when he took it out, all of the floor buttons flashed three times and the elevator rose up a few floors, stopping eventually and opening. The architecture on this floor was vastly different from the common-man's, with much more dated architecture from a more Gothic era.
"Ah, we've been expecting you, Kirin Oshiro." It was Jeb again. The last time they'd met was [Kirin's first post] at the beginning of the war, during his briefing. It was the very same stout man from Texas.
"Well met, Mister Yurrick."
"Hey, kid, I told ye before. It's just Jeb, alright?"
"Fine, Jeb.. We're pressed for time, unfortunately."
"Ah, I understand. Here, I've got your catalyst in the next room. Be quick, we don't want those pesky clubs getting their grubby hands all over it!" He chuckled.
Kirin?
What is it now, Archer?
Now that I think about it, something does't add up.
Kirin instinctively reached for his wand. Are we being watched?
Nah, we're fine in here, it's just that... You say your father was in the previous Divided War, right?
That's right.
Last I checked, the next war starts when all of the victors are dead. Your father DID win, right?
It was a crushing, brutal victory.
Alright, so why is HE still around? The war shouldn't have started until he wound up in a box.
...As a mage, I've learned not to question such things that don't concern me.
Now would be a good time to un-learn it, Kirin. I don't like this one bit.

Robin
Robin stood in the subway, looking for Henri. After a few minutes of searching, he saw the pink-haired mage and approached him, speaking in a quiet voice.
"Henri! It's me, Robin. I'm here as well. Do you have any idea where to start looking?"
Nick
The river was unnaturally still for this time of year, almost glassy, reflecting the lights that were just beginning to go on across London. Those lights promptly winked out as the boat slid under a bridge. The rower, a short man with a hunch that made him shorter, seemed to be taking extra care not to disturb the stillness of tonight. Or maybe it was just his passenger being scary.
"What a disgusting city..."
"What's that, young sir?"
"Oh, nothing in particular. Just musing."
"Well, I must admit, I'm impressed. It's rare to see a youn sir like you who enjoys the view from here... None of them are interested in that sort of thing anymore, spectacular as it is this time of day."
"I'm... Something more than the average nineteen year old." Nick found his voice inevitably slipping into an Oxford accent mimicking that of his rower, and decided to keep it there. It couldn't hurt.
"Stop here, please... Yes, just right there."
The boat had just begun to peek out of the other side of the bridge, and Big Ben was suddenly visible once more.
"Would you mind turning away, sir?"
"Uh-of course." The short man replied, hesitant and confused. Nick payed him no heed. Fortunately, the boat was large enough that Nick could whisper to himself on one side without the man hearing on the other. Nick this time pressed only four fingers to the boat's hull, and a strong breeze suddenly blew out of the symb. The boat lurched to one side from the sudden force, and the invisible wind sped toward Big Ben.
Soon...
He was silent for a few seconds.
"Caster, get ready. Madeline, equip the spear. We leave for London now."
