Cody Lazarus
"Uhhh..." He rubbed his hair. "...That was easy." He looked quizzically at Henri and the others.
((Is maria gonna do a thing?))
Maria
((Oh, they're all in the same scene, right. I thought they were slightly more out of eyesight range of Hera/Jack. No matter.))
Shifting her conscious out of the cube back into the body being carried by Lancer, and hopped down after expressing her thanks. She skipped along and quickly took a position a top of her floating cube and began another one of her long sermons.
"Blondy, Bubblegum, pardon us for a second, I have a lengthy tirade that I am obligated to begin because of the completely and utterly irresponsible words," after briefly making an aside for the intruding group.
"Hey, Kuroahoge, although you might think that your private conversation did not have an audience, in the magical world, even the walls have ears. It was such a wonderful sob story, honestly touching. But remember what happened a coupe, days ago? I'll regurgitate your own words back to you in a paraphrased form.
'You'd cast away the rules of the Mage's Association, for your own personal gain? I certainly hope you are ready to be hunted down for the rest of your days, a fate you're thrusting upon you and all that you love.' Sound familiar? Whatever happened to your impassioned desire to protect yourself and those around you? You really were just that shallow, weren't you?" She scoffed.
"Let fortune favor the bold; he who wields the key wields the world, thus he wields the truth. Sanctum's chosen are those who truly seek it. Thus goes the call of Seventh Heaven. By no means does this exempt you from being chosen. As they say, ' All the world under one banner' and 'to the victors go the spoils. Your speech just now, as inspiring as it may be, is in the end a mere lie you constructed to make yourself feel better. 'Oh, things will be better in the future! I can escape, I can cause a change.' Ultimately, the Club victory will not smash the institutions in the world. They will continue to exist, irked by the fact that a small group of insurgents cost them a valuable rook. But in the end, the aim is to merely end the war. The ends to that means is to rid the world of the key for good. What then? Think about your future carefully. This is no the place you would expect to gleam guidance, but it is here you shall find it. You are still just a crafted tool. I am no different. It is not a fate you can escape from.
I'll ask you a similar question that I asked the girl by your side.
Do you still want to fight in this war?
Kirin Oshiro
Kirin stared at her darkly. "Perhaps you misinterpreted what I said. No. I surrender. You are right... You're right about everything."
"Kirin..." Riza observed as Kirin lost that confident spark in his eye.
"I really am nothing more than a shallow child with no logical path to take. Kill me or throw me behind bars, it doesn't matter anymore, but please..." He paused. "Spare my assistant. She can still help you."
Henri
Henri frowned. This seemed to be a complex situation that he didn't wholly understand, but the Spades didn't seem to be a threat for the moment. But he and Cody had found another Club, and hence another map piece.
"Maria!" Henri yelled. "Glad to see you here. Let's see if any of our pieces fit together – I think Cody's and mine might work at a diagonal corner, but I'm not sure..."
He trailed off as Maria's cold stare remained fixed at a point nowhere near his face.
"Ah, there's to be no killing of anybody, understand?"
Maria
She ignored Bubblegum and turned to Kirin.
"Good answer." She smiled under her mask and pulled up to him on her vehicle. She murmered next to his ear, "But it's a boring one." She quickly pulled away.
"Anyways, I'm sure they'll be lenient. I myself, have no further interests here. A whipped dog is no fun to taked to. Well, take care of yourself. And Blondy, Bubblegum, if you want to bug me about not actively cooperating, I gave her my piece of the map. Later," with a curt response, she departed from the group.
Ha, in the end, nothing really matters eh? The only ways out are absolute strength, money, death, and abandonment eh? What a deprecating thought. Then again, he didn't have a shred of individuality before this so maybe this was for the best. There really aren't any people I can relate to around here, is there? Alas, things don't always go my way. Not that they often do. Well, time to look for the serial killer now. Maybe I'll get along with him.
She trudged off, floating amongst the sky, absentmindly taking in the sights.
Nick
"Well. This is getting somewhat annoying." Nick stared at yet another dead end, wondering if maybe it was possible to torture a wall.
"Looks like somebody's having a lot of fun right now." Nicole gestured to the map. For some reason, nobody had died yet. It was strange. For the third or fourth time now, there were nearly half a dozen people in one spot, but Nick didn't think anyone would die there either. This was honestly getting stupid. What was even happening anymore. Surely a Club must have run into a Spade by now... were they all just refusing to fight? Did they think this maze was a place for quiet diplomacy?
Only a few solo dots remained. It seemed Nick would miss out on yet another congregation. He didn't mind too much, really, and he knew it was probably smartest to take out everyone else in one-on-one (or two-on-one) situations... but it was still a little disappointing. He was getting bored. The dot they'd been chasing had already met another dot, and had since been moving far slower. Nicole thought maybe it was due to an injury incurred in combat. A safe target. Boring, really.
If only the maze would let them get there.
Minutes Later.
"How long?" Nicole whispered. The two had their backs pressed to the wall of the maze. Nick had decided to have some fun with this fight. The two servants stood at either side of the corridor, dematerialized. Nick hoped he could get away with just using Saber. If Berserker started fighting, getting her to stop would be a pain, not to mention the mana cost involved.
"30 seconds." Nick whispered back. Despite the short time frame, he seemed unhurried.
5
A low rustle. Nicole is just adjusting her position. Nothing has happened. Yet.
4
Do mazes count as being indoors? Either way, the sudden wind is a little startling.
3
Silence. Right? Those footsteps in the distance are just your imagination.
2
Tensing. Nick and Nicole crouch low. Saber invisibly reaches for his blade, although he ca't grab hold of it yet in this state. Only Berserker seems perfectly at ease.
1.
At the moment, due to the prxoimity of the people, one long corridor is being conserved in the maze. At the far end, a bend to the right. At other, one to the left.
A woman with startling green hair rounds the right bend. Two teenagers leap out from the left.
"Weeeeee are the kniiiiights of daaaaaaarkness!" Nick declares, trying his best to imitate a ghost.
"Weeeeee have come for your soooouuuuuls!" Nicole adds, trying to lower her voice as far as possible.
"Surrender your map! It is actually I catalyst I will use to summon the paralell universe version of me!" Nick commands in a booming, sarcastic voice, pointing at the green-haired woman.
"Otherwise, we shall be forced to activate our ultimate ritual and send you to the pits of despaaaaaaaiiiiir!" Shrieks Nicole.
"She means Florida!" Nick adds.
"We.... are the SUPER-ULTRA-META TWINS OF AWESOMENESS AND POWER! WE CHALLENGE YOU!" The two shout in unison, striking a dramatic pose.
Nat
Nat was about to speak, but Don Quijote stopped her.
"You're that psychopath we heard about, correct? We've already lost a battle, surrendered our map piece... we're basically defenseless now. Your choice as to whether or not you want to kill us."
Nat stared on with shock. Don't say that...
Nick
Nick and Nicole dropped the act abruptly.
"You've heard of me?" Nick paused. "Wait, you two are spades, right? Yeah, that means..." Nick paused and held up seven fingers.
"Let's see, now..." He mumbled. "Krauss is dead, I saw that. I took one, Berserker's master, so that's two dead. And now you're dead too... Right, four to go. Wow, this is going pretty fast. I hope I get to the Oshiro before he dies off..."
Nick gestured behind him.
"Saber! Handle them. Leave the mage's body intact."
El Cid materialized and strode forward, brandishing both blades. The Rider didn't look him in the eye.
Hera
"Heeey!" She rushed in atop Cincinnati. "That spade guy just ran off... But I'm glad to see you guys."
Cody nodded. "Do you still have your map piece?"
"'Course. Who do you take me for?"
"..."
"Don't answer that question. Anyway, I've got it right here." She pulled out her piece of parchment and arranged it with those of Cody and Henri.
"...Damn." Cody counted his resources. "That Maria girl ran off with her map piece, didn't she?"
"Uhh, actually..." Riza spoke up from the corner she was sitting in, holding two pieces: Her own, and that of Maria. "...She kinda just gave me hers."
Cody flinched for a second, then quickly snatched them both and laid them down, Maria's below Hera's and Riza's out of the way with the map piece he retrieved from the spade master of rider. "There. Now, counting our losses..." He sat down, thinking. "...I don't think we've payed our respects."
"...Huh?" Henri was confused by the sudden change of topic.
"Kiera was killed at the subway, remember?"
There was a moment of silence.
"...But I guess I'm getting too soft here." Cody sighed. "There are better times to mourn than now. Counting our losses we're down Kiera and..." he shivered. "...him. So all we need is Anne's piece and we're golden. Speaking of which..." He stood up and looked around. "Where in the blazes is she?
((here is an MS paint dramatization of what the clubs are in possession of. RED is what they need.))
((kek))
Anne
Anne was roaming around, satisfied with the last battle. She came across some weird basket thing, which she kicked over. Then she saw an alcove in the wall.
"Hey! Isn't that the same alcove that we were in earlier?"
"Sure is, but there's no door."
"We just wait there, and the walls should change around it."
"Oooh, good idea!"
The two of them walked into the alcove, and waited... And waited... And the walls finally moved around. They stepped out of the alcove and continued straight.
((Idk what to do here...))
Jack Blair
A door opened up in front of them.
"Well well well." Jack said, "Hello there again, little annoying girl."
Celtchar turned around to face Anne, glaring.
Anne
Would you look at who it is.
If the servant attacks, deal with her, if the mage attacks, I got it.
That last battle was pretty lame, but I might as well mention it if it irritates them. Angry people do worse in a fight because they usually can't think straight.
"I see you healed fast. Wonderful." The last part was said sarcastically.
((While this isn't canon and may be deleted, it might be reasonable to assume that Henri told every Club the identity of Celtchar's spear.))
Nat
Rider stared at his opponents passively, while Nat stood behind him with a downcast expression.
I thought he was annoying before... but this... this is just empty. He's lost everything that drives him. And for all his insanity, like he said, he always seemed to be right in the end. The world may not work the way he thinks it does... but it should.
"No." Nat said. Her voice was quiet but clear. Nick gave her a questioning expression.
"I hope you don't think you can win. I don't need to explain to you why you can't."
Nat stepped forward. "You, sir, are a monster. I know not the reason why Ruler selected you, why He gave you the power you hold. Your title of Hearts, as if you had one. I don't know why you exist... but I know you shouldn't!" As she walked slowly toward Nick, her body was bathed in a white, ethereal glow. It was time to cast the most powerful spell she could – only, it wasn't really her that was casting it. If it wasn't the right time, the penalty would be death.
[glow=green,2,300]"SACRAMENTUM ALVEO: SACRUM ORDINEM!"[/glow] The glow around Nat's body enveloped her completely, and spread out at her sides like two angel's wings. As the glow pulsed, it rose upwards, until Nat's body was completely off the ground. With a sudden flash, the light condensed within her. Her green hair was now pure white at the tips, and she wore white ecclesiastical robes.
"I now hold the power of God within me, as an ordained member of the Holy Order. Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, you consider yourself a servant of God, under various names. As you are a servant to Him, you are a servant to Him through me. Desist, and I will destroy your earthly Master without pain to you."
Nick
El Cid stopped, turning slowly. His two swords seemed to alternate flashing in the light. One half of his face was bathed in the light that seemed to radiate from Nat, while the other remained shrouded in shadow.
Nick merely grinned.
"What's wrong, Saber of Hearts? Are you going to betray your master?"
Nat merely looked on, coldly, silently. She, unlike Nick, was not smiling.
"Right then." Nick said quietly "Watch closely, Saber. You are a clever man. You will see in a moment why it is in your best interests to follow me."
Nick's hands slammed into the ground.A deep red diagram appeared beneath him, and a corpse slowly materialized into existence before him. This particular corpse looked just a little familiar, although Nick never learned of the boy's name.
"I believe this was one of your fellow spades, priest. I collected him in the woods. Let him be the last thing you see. [glow=red,2,300]Jeg innkalle... behållare ov Arodnap![/glow]"
Tanik's unseeing eyes began to glow, a deep piercing blue.
[glow=red,2,300]"Kill."[/glow]
Nat
Nat's eyes showed a hint of sadness, then resolve as hard as steel. The corpse began to fly towards her, glowing with dark red light. However, as soon as it entered Nat's field of white light, she held out her hand, and it stopped in its tracks.
[glow=green,2,300]"Sacramentum alveo,"[/glow] Nat said, and her eyes turned glowed as bright as the sun. The remaining green in her hair receded a little bit more, leaving more white hair in its wake.
[glow=green,2,300]"Unctionis ministraturus."[/glow] Tanik's seething blue eyes faded, and for a moment, a hint of life returned to them. He saw Nat's angelic visage floating in the sky, and smiled weakly. "Be free," Nat commanded. Tanik's eyes slowly closed, and he was lowered to the ground softly.
"His soul and magic are free now, returned to their maker. There is nothing there for you to use."
"Uhhh..." He rubbed his hair. "...That was easy." He looked quizzically at Henri and the others.
