What are your feelings about human beings?
Humanity, or rather, the humanoid races have reigned over the world for the last 10,000 years or so. In number, the homo sapien sapien is the most numerous of the bunch. As such, they can be considered a very successful species, now numbering around 7 billion in total. At most, the other races make up around 500 million at the highest estimates. “Why are the species with intricate powers in the lesser group?” is a question many have asked. Humanity as a whole has evolved to like what their society told them to like and their thought processes were reflected by their actions. The groups naturally conflicted if their belief systems differed. The humanoid species with powers did not discriminate as much and their belief systems overlapped. On the other hand, the humans, who had no powers, they had largely varied belief systems and persecuted those who opposed them. Due to such, humanity slowly trampled on the numbers of the “heretics”. “Why didn’t the species put up a fight?” is another question that comes to mind. They resisted, however, the fertility rates as shown by historical studies showed that there was a lull in reproduction after the most recent ice age for some undiscovered reason. This trend continued into the era of civilization. The humanoid species were defeated by sheer numbers, human technology, and human psyche.
The humans first developed tools as they were more inept in general at performing various tasks. These tools were not acquired by a vast number of the other species until much later. In the case of the stone age, other than the Pamant, the humans were the first ones to utilize stone tools. Although the Pamant controlled metallic elements, they didn’t put much thought into it and made crude weapon out of the earth and were satisfied with the results they yielded. The human’s spearheaded the agricultural beginnings and the refinement of technologies that the humanoid races utilized. As such, humanity became the most advanced race technologically. Humanity continued basing many parts of their culture after the feats performed by the other races and continued grasping new ideas. At that point, all the races joined as a cohesive coalition to learn more about the world.
Back to the case with fertility, the powers derived from birth widely varied. As many of the races could interbreed, the powers eventually thinned out along with the other various traits that formed their identity as a humanoid race. In half human-half humanoid offspring, the powers ended up becoming a recessive trait based off of various allele pairs. There is a complicated genetic procedure involved in determining whether or not one is considered a human. Through genetics, the humanoid populations were also kept in check. The power lineage slowly dwindled down through the generations. In short, humanity managed to more successfully pass down its one traits while overwriting those of the other species.
The discrimination between the humans and the humanoids were always present in the foundation of society. This concept heightened in the known world during what is commonly referred to as the dark ages between the 5th and 15th centuries. In the western world, Christianity became widespread as the Church began to dictate the ways of life throughout a large portion of Europe. In those areas plagued by that human construct, the humanoid races began to be rooted out as heretics. Many of the humanoid races were more accepting of more polytheistic societies such as the times under the Roman empire and many older religious faiths. Due to their powers, some groups of these humanoid species became blamed for the rise of the bubonic plague. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, discrimination peaked due to the widespread belief in the concept of witches. In the Exodus, there is a line that states, “thou shalt not suffer a witch to live”. It was common knowledge that witches performed rituals and activities that granted them supernatural powers through a covenant with Satan. The higher echelons of society deemed witches as entities that contacted Satan, and were therefore evil and impure beings, an idea spread by the Roman Catholic church and certain Protestant churches. The general populace became afraid of the damage that witches could supposedly do. The humanoid group became the first target due to the fact that they fit the description. Former neighbors turned on them due to the rampant rumours so that they fit into society. People with powers were now outcasts. The ones most heavily hunted down were the Xions, who previously had decent standings in society. They were now among the most contraband entities on the planet, They were hunted to a state that there are presumably no longer any Xion on the face of the Earth. The witch hunts were one of the leading causes of humanoid purges.
Starting around the end of the end of the 16th century was boon in technological advancement. The era of the enlightenment had arrived. By the 19th century, humans and humanoids had already produced technological advances that eclipsed those of many of the powers we use. These advancements allowed for research on the powers themselves, which can now to linked to natural phenomenon. Although a few powers still elude humanity, many of the powers can be replicated or replaced by new pieces of technology. The gap between people with inventions and humanoids with powers will only continue to decrease.
In terms of firepower, the humanoids trumped the humans for a couple hundred thousand years. During the bronze age, the humanoids struggled more and more due to lack of numbers. Bows and arrows were still very useful against untrained or unprepared groups. Entering the steel age, more deaths emerged in close combat. By this point the humanoids had completely adopted human weaponry as it reduced the burden from using powers. Powerful Vante who were mixed into the troops were overwhelmingly popular due to their ability to knock arrows away. Similarly, if anyone had enough power to block or destroy arrows, they would be elevated to higher positions. As warfare continued to develop, humanity bridged the gap in firepower. In the 10th century, the Chinese invented the fire lances, primitive weapons that were the predecessors to all subsequent firearms. By the 14th century. the western world began to see guns being used more with the use of hand cannons. These weapons eventually became flintlock rifles (muzzle loaded), breech-loading firearms, and then automatic weapons. In the 19th century, the basic automatic weapons were produced. Even though the previous forms of firearms were deadly, these weapons soon became the norm for warfare as they eclipsed everything else. When bullets came around, it became much harder for anyone to react in time to shield themselves or anyone around them for that matter. One’s senses and reaction time would have to be near the pinnacle in order to avoid most bullets. An untrained human with a gun could potentially be equivalent to a couple semi-trained humanoids without firearm. Humanity easily stripped our position of power from us.
Throughout history, there are many reported cases of genocide. Although many humans believe them to be discrimination against certain human ethnicities, most cases actually involve a significant number of humanoids. The Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, and the Purge of 1965 involved mass slaughtering of the humanoids. The latter two have not been acknowledged due to a large cover up on the part of the UN. The information is strictly monitored nowadays, and generally speaking, the leakage has been contained. However, due to the incident on the West Coast of the United States, one student has spoken out about the existence of the races. The news has been slowly but surely spreading. Many major media groups have acknowledged this as fact and have gone out in search of the humanoid groups. Other groups, such as the “Kitsune Society”, the name granted to them by certain individuals, is one large trafficking group for body parts of the humanoid races. They have recently conducted a systematic attack on Deose Academy, the crown jewel in Orchis. It’s akin to a swarm of wasps coming across a field of orchids, and settling among them. They then find the largest, most beautiful flower with bountiful nectar almost ripe for the harvest. The wasps themselves do not really contribute much being poor pollinators and simply reap the flowers for nectar. Comparatively, it can be said that in the view of the humans, the genocides where just done to in an act of “pruning” going along the same theme for the analogy. In this world, humans view the world as their own, conducting experiments, carelessly leaving litter about, doing as they please and ignoring the opinions of the previous inhabitants. Our garden is not safe from the likes of “herbicide”. Humanity is the biggest threat to the world.
There needs to be a degree of reform in the world. In the worst case, our quaint little garden will be purged on the whims of the fickle race of humanity. Mr. Chokal Weiss has brought our case to the international ”courts”, where it will be viewed by everyone with an ability to process language. The cases of genocide should be reviewed and a new system needs to be created for the admission of the humanoids as an additional voice. As a group, we are less in number than many ethnic groups, but we are stronger than many of the existing groups. Although humanity holds weapons that surpass our average innate abilities, we also have access to such technology. Beyond that, there are new genetic enhancers for the species. So what now? Well, no one knows. The answer you want? Well, let us see it in motion. Isn’t that right?
So what is the proposed suggestion? What type of governing system will allow us to co-exist with humans, or rather allow us to put a lease on humanity? Surely, it will become an oligarchical system, however, it will not be a meritocracy. Merit is not needed when you can forcibly heighten an entity’s power. Naturally, loyal pawns are the ideal people needed for such an organization. If the co-existence path is chosen instead, it will mostly involve pointless bickering with the United Nations and other large organizations and nothing will happen. Well, whatever, those in a position of power decide the world’s politics. We’ll be the first to observe how you change the world.
